1. Posts must be at least 10 sentences. Not hard, loves. I hate short posts. *threatening voice* Don't make me put in a word-count! (Just kidding, loves, I hate them as much as you do. But if need be, I will.)
2. No God-modding, or Power-playing, or any of that. For those of you who don't know, this is in a sense playing another persons character to make the story go as you want it to. This includes have the person respond in your post, stating the injury in a fight, etc. It will result first in a 'verbal' warning, then in a 25% warning and removal of the post in question. Savvy?
3. Realistic-ness. Your characters are human. No magic, speaking to animals, super human strength, etc. Your charrie will get injured, and eventually will die. They are human, meaning they are not perfectly beautiful. They have faults. I expect to see them. Nobody is perfect, and nobody is invinceable. Your character must be flawed in someway before being accepted. Also, please don't post in many different boards at once. It makes it unbelievable, and hard to follow. In reality you can not be at five different places at the same time, the same goes for this game. It just makes it easier on the plot, sorry!
4. No chatspeak, IM talk, anything like that. Posts should be in complete sentences, with understandable spelling and grammar. I accept that pirates will not use good grammar, and there are dialects involved. That's fine, I welcome that as making your character more believable. Same with nobility etc speaking with their dialects. Just please...let us know what you mean, and posts should be accurate. (there's a handy-dandy spell check button at the bottom of the posting screen!)
5. Develop your character. Give then a personality. Is your character a ditz? Are they a bit too quick tempered and headed? Do they really have a sweet spot underneath it all? I swear to god, if I have 20 'ruthless' characters on my hands, I will kill someone. Sure! Be ruthless! But why? Give your character a background and history, give them some depth. And please, loves, follow through with it!
6. Please post in third person unless you're in the OOC boards. (This is Out Of Character for those of you who don't know. It took me forever to figure that out! More or less means just random chat away from the game). This is an example of a third person post: HE did this, THEY did that. Rather than. I did this, WE did that. See?
7. This basically goes without saying. Be civil to everyone on the game. I don't care if you know each other from this other game and hate each other, learn to deal. It's called anger management, it's good for you. If you honestly hate each other that much, become pirates, come up with some excuse, and slit each other's throats. THAT WAS A JOKE! Kinda. But basically, be good, play nicely. Being rude in character is fine, harassment OOC will NOT be tolerated. You will be 'verbally' warned, then possible banned temporarily if it continues. If you still continue to harass, you will be banned, Admin's judgment . If you have a problem with someone harassing you, please PM an admin with the posts/messages in question quoted, and we'll take a look.
8.This basically brings me to the difference between In Character and Out of Character. In character, minor cussing, swearing, foul language is allowed. As is a bit of racism, sexism, predjudice, etc. Think of the time period, we are trying to be historically accurate to a bit of an extent. OUT of character, however, let's keep the swearing to a minimum, no F*** this F*** that F*** you etc, we get the point, yes? Lovely. Also, NO racism/sexism/harassment of ANY kind OUT of character. (See rule #7.)
9.If you are going to be graphic, relating to ANY nature (you know what I mean) Keep it pg. 15, yes? This is NOT a porno site, am I understood? Also, please put a [G] in the topic title, so everyone knows not to 'walk in' on the thread? Socially acceptable behaviors apply to things like this as well, and you wouldn't want to do that in real life. If we see ANYTHING questionable, ADMIN JUDGMENT again, The post in question will be deleted and you will be warned.
10. Respect the admins (Anne and Marc [a.k.a Myst].) If you have a question don't be afraid to ask. We were all knew at one point and we'll try to be as positively patient as we can. You'll learn the ropes in no time. But never be afraid to ask, or just go with it. That sucks, I know. As long as you are polite to us, we will be more than willing to help!
11. Multiple Characters. Yes, you may have as many characters as you choose, following the given rules: you must be active with all of them. If you haven't played your first character, we will not accept a second, makes sense, yes? Also, you must not neglect/abandon any of the characters, you will be warned if this happens. Each character shall have its own account. Please make your display name the name of your character (ex: Joe Shmo.) Also, if you are already a captain, let's give someone else the chance, yes? So you can't be captain AND Admiral AND King of England, France, and Yugoslavia. Whatever. Just don't do it.
12. Just use your good judgment. If you disagree with something I say, PM me and we'll discuss it, I'd love to hear your opinion. DO NOT harass me (or Myst), or you'll be banned, understood? Just enjoy the game, I hope it'll be fun!
