General
Basically, it goes like this. Your character can be one of two things; they can be a pirate, or they can be a brittish officer or passenger. Yes, I know everyone wants to be a pirate, but having the Brittish on a chase would make this game so much more interesting! *batts eylashes* pleeeaaase? Pirates can be male or female, whereas Navy charactersare ONLY male. Nobility can be any gender, race, age, or relation to the other characters.
Pirates
Rules for Pirating...well there aren't many. You may take over Brittish ships, take captives, loot ships, have plank walkings, hangings, all that cool stuff. Mutiny? but of course, me hearties. Your captives are yours to do with as you please. Kill them, force them to work on your ship, ransom them off, make them do demeaning chores, your choice. You may search for treasure, I may decide to hide some somewhere. Battle for riches.
Brittish Officers
However, Officers do have rules to abide by. For example. No killing officers. Code of conduct, chivallry, all that fun stuff. Of course, your character may do something because of something else, causing you to act against the Brittish and therefore becoming a pirate...see how interesting this game could be? Of course, then your head would be wanted by all British officers, and you would be living a very dangerous life from now on.
First Joining
After you have registered at the registration boards as either Pirate, Officer or Nobility, and an Admin has approved, you must choose your desired ship and position. This thread can be found in the registry board as well, and lists the ships and the availoable positons. After that is done, an admin will add that to the bottom of your character file and you are all set to begin roleplaying on the ship of your choice!
The Charries
Your charries are human. No magical powers, wings, talking to animals, etc. They most likely had a bit of an Irish or English accent. (Please don't have them speak a totally other language though. If we can't understand them right off, it needs to be changed. Pirate slang is fine, but please put in an apostraphe if you drop a letter. It helps, loves, really.) Remember, if your charrie is a pirate, they haven't bathed in months. No roleplaying beautiful perfect characters. If your character is an officer, they have perfectly immpecable manners, uniforms, everything. Remember that British officers were male, no female officers. (Though you may roleplay their wife, daughter, family, as a noble. That would be interesting.) Let's just try to make this somewhat historically accurate.
Warnings
I will activate warnings. It goes a bit like this. 25% warning is a warning. 50% gets you a 3 day banning and a revision of the post in question. 75% is a one week banning and removal of the post in question. 100% gets you a permanent banning from the site. Many things may trigger these warnings. Fighting between characters is fine. ooc fighting is not allowed. Rude, snappy, complaining, annoying behavior will also get you a warning. Arguing about a warning will get you a second warning. See the rules for unacceptable behavoirs.
Mutiny and Swordfighting
Well, basically, none of us really knows how to swordfight. Oh, you do? Fasinating, you must teach me sometime. (Seriously, that would be the coolest thing ever.) However, for the practical purposes of this game, we do not know how to properly fight. So here are the rules. No, "They stabbed him in the chest running him through." Or, "they snuck up on him from behind, stabbing him before he know they were there." instead, try "they snuck up on him from behind, catching him unawares." There is a difference. No 'powerplaying'. However, your character is human, they make mistakes, they die. If, for example, your opponent posted one similar to my example, you would be just that; caught unawares. This doesn't mean you parry the blow perfectly, it means you stumble, fight desperatley, etc. It also doesn't mean you die on the spot, though it could. Be realistic about this.
If the two crews involved can not determine a winner amongst themselves, then the admins will together vote and decide. I suggest, however, that you find a way to work it out yourselves.
Also, Captains fight Captains, that is the way it works. If one crew outnumbers the other, they may fight two on one or three on one, but they may not interfere with the captains fight. If your captain wins, their crew wins. If the crew wins but the captains are still fighting, one captain may yeild to save the life of their crew.
